Four new sponsored students

As of September 2012, 4 new students were waiting to be admitted to the scholarship program extended by Women to Women International - Ghana High School Project.

As we were able to raise all the funds needed for 20 scholarships and 4 of our former 20 graduated, we initiated a transfer and received the following confirmation from the school principal.

"How great it is to have people like you who cherish so much girl-child education. The girls are so happy that you have funds for them for this academic year. This will again reduce greatly the final burden on their parents. We received the money on the 30th of November.

Kindly extend our sincere gratitude once again to all your people who have contributed generously to make these funds available for our girls from across the world."

Sincerely,

Gabriella Wumnaya

4th Annual Fundraiser exceeds goal.

The 4th annual fundraiser for the Ghana High School Project was made possible by a group of extraordinary volunteers which included:

An outstanding couple who opened up their home to host the fundraiser, Mary Ellen and Bob Logan. Volunteers to set up, take down, clean up, cook, obtain donations from grocery stores and silent auction donation items, and maintain a supply of clean glasses and plates throughought the event. Our most sincere appreciation goes to: Jay, Judy and Jane Allen, Bertha and Dave Carrell, Kat Post, Eric Schlobohm, Elda Schaffield. In addition to these, a group of 14 women meet monthly and work tirelessly all year round to come up with all the ideas that make this project so successful. Thank you to one and all,

All contributors, volunteers and donors participated in exceeding our goal of $10,000 which will go toward 20 scholarships for the poorest girls of the Damongo region but who are academically strong and wish to attend St. Anne's Senior Secondary School for Girls.

To each and every one of you, our most sincere appreciation.

20 High School Girls Receive a Scholarship for 2011-12 School Year and 4 Graduate.

Contributors and donors made it possible for 20 girls to attend High School in Ghana for the 2011-12 school year. A transfer of $8,000 was initiated October 11th, 2011. It takes $500.00 to sponsor a girl and this amount pays for their tuition, room and board, books and uniforms for a year.

We are thankful for your generous support to the education of these worthy scholarship recipients,

The Ghana High School Team

Letter of acknowledgement from St. Anne's principal

October 3rd, 2011

Dear Silvia,

The new school year has just begun, when we have to admit new students.  The new entrants reported to school on the 16th of September, whilst the continuing students reported on 23rd of September 2011.

ENROLMENT:

We have projected a new intake of forty-five students but so far thirty eight students have reported. We are in our rainy season and we do have frequent down pour of rain which has flooded our rivers and dams and devastated the roads so travelling is a very tedious exercise these days and that is why we are patiently waiting for the students who are yet to report to do so. The total enrolment will remain 180 students because there are no additional classroom and dormitory blocks to accommodate an increase of students in take. Furniture is also limited.
